Ok, I took this pic with my phone at Cali's in Carbondale on my last night there, and I wanted to see if anyone could identify who these chairs are by. I really liked them and they were outrageously comfortable. It was nice to see a little good design sprinkled around the bar, I just hope they continue adding some class for when I come back. (although for being at a club like that they might have wanted to go with a more stable chair)

I guess it makes sence that the first post I make is about a piece done by a friend of mine at SIU. What I love about this piece is how beautifully the salvaged pieces have been joined together. It some times amazes me what good designers can do with scrap. I think the aspect that really sets this piece off is the flow of the color from the yellow to white. I believe that I remember Ted talking about how with it all one color it seemed to run together too much, so to aliveate that he added the white corner to take some of the edge off. (This does make me think about where my stolen bike tire might have ended up.)

Hello everyone (if there ever is anyone reading this) this is the triumphant first post on my design blog. I guess I should start with what I am trying to do with this blog. I love design mainly product design (which is my major) and I live to find cool furniture to talk about so that is what I will probably be talking most about. I am also thinking of bringing in some other designers from SIU who have some interesting thoughts on design, which is part of the reason for the name Saluki design. Well I guess that is all the background I need so now time to talk design.
